Reefer Rate Increase Starting January 2013

Shipping Lines to Impose Reefer Rate Increase Starting January 2013

Citing increasingly higher costs associated with operating reefer containers, major shipping lines (Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, MSC, CMA-CGM, APL, MOL, Evergreen, Safmarine, Cosco), have announced a reefer rate increase on core trade lanes. Reefer containers rates to and from the USA will increase by USD 1500 starting January 1st, 2013.

Custom VinRoute Risk Assessment on Shipment Routes and Expected Shipping Dates
JF Hillebrand USA has developed VinRoute to help shippers make more informed decisions on how to ensure product is adequately protected against the elements. VinRoute reports can provide the average temperature and humidity conditions for each day of transit on the usual route the cargo makes from origin to destination for over 60,000 port-pairs. In some cases, shipping a dry container fitted with VinLiner insulation may be an appropriate alternative to an operating reefer container.
