A dedicated academic, Jay Prosser has studied throughout many cities in the subjects of art, language, culture, politics and history, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Valdosta State University. Wine formed a principle form of study for Jay throughout his academic career. While it often focused on the historical or cultural aspects of French wines, there was also a little tasting involved! This curiosity turned into a passion as Jay served and explained wines at a small bar in south Georgia. Passion turned to papers as he combined academia and tasting, writing on the evolving situation of French viticulture and the changing demographics of consumption. Supplementing these historical studies are several years of residence in France and countless hours spent talking with vignerons, cavists, and consumers over and about the product they love.
Jay moved to New York for a Masters program and ended up staying, finding his way into the accounting department and then customer service order board team at T. Elenteny Imports in 2014. With a dash of southern hospitality and a smattering of trivia, he hopes to keep expanding his understanding of the vast world of wine and, in turn, pass that information along to all and sundry. Out of the office, Jay can often be found at the Maison Française at NYU or in front of the stove, cooking à la française of course!
